Who needs an NZeTA?

• Citizens of visa waiver countries travelling for tourism, short-term business, or visiting family and friends.

• Cruise passengers of any nationality.

• Transit passengers passing through Auckland International Airport en route to another destination.

Your approved ETA is electronically linked to your passport and remains mandatory even for short transit stays through New Zealand.

• Your NZeTA is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever is earlier. For airline and cruise crew members, the NZeTA remains valid for up to 5 years.

• You can make multiple visits, each for up to 3 months (or 6 months for UK citizens) within 12 months.

• You must travel with the same passport linked to your ETA approval.

Important:

If you are already in New Zealand and wish to stay longer, you must apply for an appropriate visa before your permitted stay ends, as the NZeTA cannot be used to extend your stay.
